A Mother-and-Daughter Legacy Rooted in Culture, Community, and the Spirit of New Orleans
Way Down Yonder Legacy Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the culinary heritage of New Orleans while creating pathways to education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, leadership, and economic opportunity.
Founded by mother and daughter Yonder Gordon and Yonder Miller, the Foundation grew from a family legacy built through food, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and community.
What began with family recipes and a passion for New Orleans culture became years of building businesses, creating jobs, training people, serving communities, and learning firsthand what it takes to turn an idea into an opportunity.
Today, those experiences inform our work.
OUR MISSION
Preserve Culture. Build Skills. Create Opportunity.
We use food, culture, education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship as tools to help individuals build practical skills, confidence, leadership experience, and pathways toward economic opportunity.
WHY WE EXIST
We believe culture is more than something we preserve.
Culture can be a catalyst for learning, connection, confidence, and opportunity.
By creating access to education, mentorship, hands-on experiences, and real-world learning, we help individuals develop the skills they need to pursue careers, grow as leaders, and explore entrepreneurship.
OUR VISION
A future where culture creates opportunity, community builds confidence, and individuals have the tools to build their own path forward.
Preserving Heritage. Empowering Communities.
