PRESERVING NEW ORLEANS CULINARY HERITAGE.
EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS & ENTREPRENEURS.
From food and culture to skills, opportunity, and ownership.
Way Down Yonder Legacy Foundation is a nonprofit organization creating pathways to workforce readiness, leadership, entrepreneurship, and business ownership through culinary education, hospitality training, mentorship, real-world learning, and community partnerships.
Rooted in the culinary and entrepreneurial legacy of New Orleans, our work is informed by more than a decade of firsthand experience building businesses, creating jobs, training people, serving communities, and navigating the realities of entrepreneurship.
We believe food can be the entry point — but ownership is the outcome.
DON'T JUST GET A JOB.
BUILD A PATHWAY TO OWNERSHIP.
We believe people deserve more than access to a job.
They deserve access to knowledge, leadership, entrepreneurship, and the opportunity to build something of their own.
Our model connects:
LEARN → LEAD → BUILD → OWN
What We Do?
We connect culture, education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship to create pathways toward career advancement and business ownership.
LEARN
Hybrid Education & Culinary Training
Participants combine online learning, AI-supported education, hands-on culinary training, mentorship, and real-world experience to develop practical skills in culinary arts, hospitality, customer service, teamwork, leadership, and workplace readiness.
LEAD
Experience That Creates Opportunity
Through hands-on projects, practical experiences, mentorship, and industry connections, participants put what they learn into action, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to move from learning to leadership and opportunity.

BUILD
Workforce & Entrepreneurship Development
Participants build foundational knowledge in business planning, financial management, food costing, marketing, operations, leadership, and technology—skills they can apply to employment, career growth, or entrepreneurship.
OUR APPROACH
We believe people learn best by doing.
Our goal is simple: give people the knowledge, experience, and support to build a future—not just find a job.

Why It Matters
Opportunity is more than getting hired.
People need access to skills, knowledge, experience, mentorship, and connections that can help them build sustainable careers and explore entrepreneurship.
Way Down Yonder Legacy Foundation brings these opportunities together through a model rooted in culinary culture, workforce development, education, and entrepreneurship.
We believe that when people have the opportunity to learn, build, and lead, they are better positioned to create new possibilities for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Hands that never stopped reaching for something better.
When a community comes together, something powerful happens.
